Earnest Dogs...

I am a dog guy. In fact, my whole family are dog people. I have nothing against cat people, I just prefer the company of dogs. In our family, we have two dogs. They do a great job of vacillating between enjoying their siblingship and terrorizing one another.

The thing my dogs do best is being with their family. From the time you enter the house until you leave again, each of the dogs is aware of where you are and attentive to your actions (especially if you happen to wander by the food bowls or pick up a favorite toy). They intuitively know when to cuddle up to a sad family member or alert all family members that someone is at the door. Typically each family member is met at the door with an excited dog upon returning home.

It seems as if God imprinted on the heart of dogs the ability found in 1 Peter 4:8-10 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:”

Today my reminder that God lives in each of us has been found in my dogs. These creatures love us earnestly, and unconditionally. They are an example of how I am called to live with others daily.
